Samuel Street, Woolwich.
After studying in Glasgow and Paris, Francis Dodd settled in London in 1904. From 1923, he exhibited at the Royal Academy, where he was elected an associate in 1927. Dodd was also a member of both the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. Dodd's portraits include British naval and military leaders during the First World War, when he was employed as an official war artist.
