Roman strap fitting or 'lorica segmentata' hinged strap fitting. Lorica segmentata was a type of armour used in the Roman Empire. This image shows a fragment of a strap fitting formed of two plates of bronze riveted together. The plate on the top is rectangular, the other has a curved end. This strap fitting was found with a complete hinge and pin.
