Metal sugar loaf cutters. Pair of tongs used for cutting up lumps of sugar in the home, after delivery from retailers. The cutters are of polished or plated metal and have axe-shaped heads with curving stems crossing at the joint. One stem is marked with the inscription "R. Timmin/& Sons". The joint is decorated, with wavy lines. One handle has a large rectangular handle grip protruding from it. The other handle has a piece of metal on the inside acting as a spring. A hinged catch joins the two handles at their ends.
