Gold alloy and organic fibre girldle. This girdle is made of knitted and wound gold alloy wire wrapped in an organic fibre. Its metal is shiny yellow in some parts and has a brown surface corrosion in others suggesting that it is a low karat gold wire with a high copper content. The girdle is composed of a series of linked double chains decorated with knots and loops of wire and finished with a triangular pendant which is open on two sides. Its was found on the foreshore of the river Thames at Queenhithe.
