Full image caption

Roman galss beaker of colourless faint yellowish tinge. The fragments found were part of its rim, body and the base. It has been restored from sherds of which about 40% were complete but in need of with much gap-filling. This Roman beaker has been free-blown blank with horizontal cutting, facet-cutting and ground and polished. It also has an everted, rounded rim, two zones of facet-cutting with two interlocking rows of tear-drop facets, forming a honeycomb effect on its upper part and a single row of tear drops on its lower body. Each zone is bordered top and bottom by a prominent rib, formed by deep horizontal cutting above and below.
