Tall, cream coloured ceramic jug with a green glaze covering most of the body. It is decorated with vertical scratched lines. Mill Green ware was made at the kilns around Mill Green, Ingatestone Essex from the early 1300s to the late 1400s. Undecorated and unglazed floor tiles and domestic ware was made for local use but the fine ware, such as this jug, was sold in London, Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire. Typically the fine ware is hard and smooth with an overall white slip coating and green glaze.
