SS Euripides, the first ship to use King George V dry dock, opened on July 23, 1921. The new dock was built to extend the trade that was passing though the Royal Victoria and Albert Docks. A dry dock is for ship repairs and inspections. It could be flooded with water in one and a half hours. Photography: John H. Avery & Co
