Royal proclamation 'for removing the receipt of His Majesties Exchequer from Westminster to Nonsuch'. Dated Hampton Court, July 26th, 1665 the proclamation refers to the effects of the Plague which has resulted in the decision to move the Exchequer from the plague affected Westminster to Nonsuch. This measure was intended to prevent the spreading of the plague by redirecting Sheriffs, Bailiffs, Collectors and others who would normally attend the Exchequer to an area away from the plague.
