Suffrage banner 'John Hampden'. Probably the banner designed by Mary Sargant Florence for the Women's Tax Resistance League and executed by the Suffrage Atelier for the WSPU procession of 18 June 1910. Banner with a rectangular canvas and a figure in monochrome and silver with a scroll and a sword, labelled 'John Hampden'. Hampden is depicted surrounded by laurel wreaths with the mottoes 'Ship Money 1627, No Vote no Tax 1910. Women's Tax Resistance League' across the top. 'Taxation without representation is tyranny' is written on the reverse.
