Full image caption

Roman stone sculpture. Found re-used as building material in the late-Roman riverside wall at Blackfriars. Carved from limestone, the relief depicts four female figures seated on a bench, holding - from right to left: bread and fruit, a dog, a suckling baby, and a basket of fruit. They probably portray the three native mother godesses, although the fourth figure cannot be identified.
