Box presented with the Freedom of the City of London to Admiral Augustus Keppel. Box is of heart-of-oak with reeded gold trellis-work chased at intersections with roses and applied with seven medallions enamelled 'en grisaille' on a brown ground. Its cover is further embellished with chased trophies of arms and plenty. Cover with a border, bright-cut with anchors and scallop shells. Maker's mark 'A.F.', probably for Andrew Fogelberg. The box has a front panel with two enamel plaques inscribed 'CHARRON FECIT'. Probably designed by William Charron from designs by John Bacon Snr.
