Letters Patent on vellum. Letters Patent recording the royal lease of the manor of WYVERSTON, Suffolk by Elizabeth I to Nicholas Bacon, at total cost of £34 5s 5d to be paid annually at Michaelmas and Lady Day. The initial E contains a portrait of Elizabeth I enthroned in State robes, with her hair loose beneath her crown, and holding an orb and sceptre. Letters Patent inscribed within illuminated borders along upper left and right hand edges. The lower edge is folded over and secured with remains of a thread cord which was once attached to a seal, now lost. It has been attributed to 'BUGGYN' which appears illuminated in gold on red at lower right.
