Linen sampler. Linen, worked in polychrome silks on the back with running, double running, cross, montenegrin cross, satin, eyelet and Algerian eye stitch. Selvedges on the top and bottom with a drawn thread hemming along the sides. This sample has bands of geometric stylised floral motifs, four alphabets, inscribed: ELIZABETH MEADOW IS MY NAME AND WIH MY NEEDLE I WROUGHT THE SAME AND IUDA HAYLE WAS MY DAME. EM. OW. THIS SAMPELOAR.
