Full image caption

Tin-glazed earthenware plate decorated in blue, manganese and ochre on a hard white glaze with half-length portraits of King William and Queen Mary and inscribed 'W M R'. William and Mary ascended the throne jointly in 1689. There does not appear to be any archaeological evidence as to where these plates were made and they were probably produced by several London potteries.
