Pearly King's suit. Worn by Mr Herbert Lyon as Pearly King of Shoreditch; the suit was decorated by his wife; pearl buttons on the back spell 'GOOD LUCK'. When the Lyons moved to Ongar, they were adopted as the local pearlies and last wore their costumes in Ongar for the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977. Mr Lyon was a chimney sweep.
