National Recreation Centre Stadium Arena terraces. Spectators on the Stadium Arena terraces at the National Recreation Centre at Crystal Palace watch young athletes training on the track. Costing around ?2,750,000, the sports centre was built on the site of the 1851 Great Exhibition. It had facilities for all athletics events, from the track to the swimming pool. Designed in the 'Brutalist' style, the centre was given a Grade II listing in 1997.
