Holloway prison medallion. The Streatham branch of the Women's Social and Political Union (W.S.P.U.) awarded the suffragette Leonora Tyson this Holloway medallion. Leonora was the branch's honorary secretary. The medallion commemorates a period of imprisonment endured by Leonora in 1912 as punishment for her participation in the W.S.P.U. window-smashing campaign of March that year. The medallion is inscribed 'LEONORA TYSON / IN REMEMBRANCE OF MARCH 9TH TO MAY 8TH 1912. A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION FROM THE STREATHAM WSPU'.
