January 1684. The frost fair scene shows a line of booths on frozen Thames in centre, coaches, sledges, sedan-chairs & citizens are shown on ice. Also a game of ninepins in progress.In the foreground centre and nearby is gaping hole in ice. You can see in the painting from left to right; St. Clement Danes, Arundel St., Essex Bldgs., Essex Stairs, Middle Temple Hall, Temple Stairs, Crown Office Row, Temple church, Serjeant's Inn Hall, precursor of Paper Buildings and on the extreme right King's Bench Walk.
