This letter was written by the Secretary of the Oxford and Cambridge Club, Walter Woodstock, to the Secretary of the Reform Club, Lieutenant-Colonel Newbigging. Both clubs are located on Pall Mall. Woodstock's letter reads that 'My Committee did not entertain the proposition of the Electrophone Company for one moment'. The Electrophone allowed people to listen to church services and musical and theatrical performances live from their homes or at social venues.
