Children playing in the water fountains in the Festival Gardens. The Gardens are created as part of the Festival of Britain and was loosely inspired by the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Architect James Gardner designed the gardens and they opened on 10th May 1951. The gardens included raised walkways, caves, a boating pond, a Children’s Zoo, fountains and sculptures.
