The Pelicans at London Zoo in 1951. The birds were a gift from the State of Texas and were to replace the 2 pelicans Peter and Paul who had lived in St James' Park. The new birds were named Gal, Ves, Ton and Tex and were kept at London Zoo until they became acclimatised to the British weather.
