The great disaster on the Thames: Collision between The 'Princess Alice' and the 'Bywell Castle' near Norwich. The Princess Alice was one of the many steamboats which provided recreation trips along the Thames in the 19th century. In 1878, The Princess Alice came into collision with a collier. More than 600 holiday makers were drowned as a result. Published in the London Ilustrated News, Saturday September 14th 1878. No. 2046, Vol. LXXIII.
