Roman intaglio with clasped hands. Intaglio made of onyx with a blue-grey upper face on a dark ground. A pair of clasped right hands, the 'dextrum iunctio', a symbol of betrothal or marriage, within an olive wreath. The name ALBA has been scratched in reverse below the hands, obliterated and marked out more clearly above. The gem is unpolished within the cut area and this and the uncut name suggests that it is unfinished.
