Combe & Co.'s Wood Yard Brewery in Castle Street, St. Giles. The brewery, one of London's largest, was developed during the early 19th century by one-time Lord Mayor of London, Harvey Christian Combe. By the 1860s it covered more than 4 acres and in 1898 it merged with two other breweries to became part of Watney Combe Reid and Co. Ltd. Combe & Co. were best known for their dark London Porter ales and later, as fashions changed, for pale and light ales.
