Chimney Piece, Tallow Chandler's Hall, Doegate Hill, 1886. This photograph was commissioned by the Society for Photographing Relics of Old London to form part of a permanent visual record of historic buildings threatened with alteration or possible demolition in the 1870s and 80s. The Tallow Chandler's are one of the over 100 Livery Companies in the City of London. Their Hall was rebuilt in 1672 and remains today, including the Chimney Piece, very much as it appears in this photograph
