An old house, Fore Street, 1884. This photograph was commissioned by the Society for Photographing Relics of Old London to form part of a permanent visual record of historic buildings threatened with alteration or possible demolition in the 1870s and 80s. Fore Street was where the first World War 2 bomb fell on London on 12th August 1940, and the area was completely rebuilt during the 1960s-70s.
