Detail of a sword of honour presented to Lord Nelson. This is a jewelled and enamelled sword of honour with gold hilt set with diamonds. It was presented by the City of London to Lord Nelson in 1800 in commemoration of the Battle of the Nile 1798. This detail of the pommel is decorated with a translucent blue enamelled plaque with the figure of Britannia with a shield and pyramids on the background.
