This rather crafty looking chap is selling sticks to beat the dust from clothes and carpets. However, the print and verse suggest other uses. On one side of the vendor, a woman pinches a man's nose and threatens him with a stick, whilst, on the other, a man wielding a stick twists a woman's arm behind her back. The verse runs: 'My pretty Ginny Tarters for a ha'penny a stick, or a penny a stick, or a stick to beat your wives or Dust your Cloths'.
Plate 2 from the Twelve Cries of London.
