Gold finger ring with a skull bezel and crossbones enamelled white, the eyes and shoulders are set with diamonds, the hoop in the form of tied ribbons enamelled black. There are a number of similar examples of this ring which served the dual purpose of mourning and memento mori and can be dated to the 1640's on the evidence of the Despotin lodged in the ring.
