The cutters are of polished or plated metal and have axe-shaped heads with curving stems crossing at the joint. One stem is marked with the inscription "R. Timmin/& Sons". The joint is decorated, with wavy lines. One handle has a large rectangular handle grip protruding from it. The other handle has a piece of metal on the inside acting as a spring.
