Doll representing a male pedlar. This peddlar doll has a head of painted and stuffed leather and bead eyes. Its body and arms are stuffed and it has leather hands and wooden peg legs. This pedlar is dressed in cotton trousers and wool jacket and painted card hat. He carries a large tray of plaited cotton cord for the display of his wares. This includes miniature braces, earrings, brooches, perfume boddles battledore racquets and shuttlecock and face screens. The doll is attached to a wooden plinth which is secured to a circular wooden base. A glass dome would have been fitted over the base to protect the doll from dust.
