A woman's military hat worn with a military tunic by Queen Victoria for military reviews. It is made of black wool felt trimmed with braid, made from crimson silk and gilt metal thread, and swan's feathers. The hat has a domed crown and broad brim, slightly turned up at the outside. The braid has been wrapped three times around the hat and terminates in two heavy tassels. The feathers are attached to the braid at the centre front of the hat; some have been dyed red.
