Portrait of Charles I as Martyr King. Oil on canvas, not dated or signed. Bust portrait of the King immediately before his execution. He is shown with uplifted hands and is wearing his excution clothes. A crown is depicted on the right hand side in the middle of a ray of of sun, against a cloudy sky. The composition recalls the imagery of William Marshall's frontispiece to 'Eikon Basilike'.
