Reconstruction model of the port of Roman London c.100AD. Based upon information obtained from archaeological excavations along the Lower Thames Street, this model illustrates the development of Roman London port facilities. A new quay is being built into the river, replacing an earlier timber-faced quay. Cargoes are being unloaded and stored in the warehouses that run along the waterfront. Shops, workshops and inns serve both the waterfront district and the rest of the city. A timber bridge connects the north and south settlements.
