Verulamium region jar. Greater London and Hertfordshire region. Unusually tall jar of Verulamium Region Coarse White-slipped ware, repaired from sherds. The jar has six concentric grooves around the body and a lid-seat rim to take a fitted lid. The lid is of a local oxidised ware and has a rounded rim, slightly chipped. The vessel was used as a cremation urn and contained cremated bones, with the lid placed on top. The vessel had then been placed inside a tile cist. This urn was found between Barnard's Inn, Fetter Lane and Norwich Street, City of London.
