Bronze terret ring. Cast bronze rein-guide or terret ring with nine lip like mouldings. These objects were used to guide individual rein leathers to the driver of a chariot or cart. There were five in a complete set: four small pieces mounted in two pairs on the yokes of a pair of ponies, with a fifth larger example mounted either on the pole or on the vehicle itself. This terret was found on the Thames foreshore at Isleworth in 1975.
