Zeppelin raid, 8th of September 1915 . Searchlights illuminate the shadowy, menacing form of a German airship above London. From his house, Edwin Bale observed the most successful Zeppelin raid of the First World War. The raid of 8 September 1915 caused more than half a million pounds worth of damage. One Zeppelin, L13, which bombed central London, caused almost all of it. This single attack caused more than half the material damage caused by all the raids against Britain in 1915.
