Yellow glazed border ware. Called a 'tripod pipkin' the name is used to identify jar shaped cooking vessels with three feet and one handle or more. This tripod pipkin shows evidence of ribbing in the body, it has one handle and is yellow glazed. The handles were generally tubular and the feet were placed on regular intervals of the base and smoothed into it. They were spalyed outwards at a slight angle. Tripod pipkins were made for heating food and most of them have burn marks on the base and have encrustations of soot. These cooking pots were used on a open fire.
