King Henry VIII began to build Nonsuch Palace on 22 April 1538, the thirtieth anniversary of his accession.
His successor Queen Elizabeth 1 hunted deer in the grounds.
Some of the trees in the park are so old they would have been saplings when Henry VIII had the planted.
