In 1816, Madame Saqui ascended and descended a tightrope that was fixed to a sixty foot mast. Her performance was accompanied by a firework display.
This painted image is in a portfolio containing over 100 portraits of the famous visitors, musicians and performers that attended the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.
