Ex-Suffragette prisoners in replica prison clothing campaigning at the Chelmsford, Essex by-election, December 1908. The campaign was organised by Flora Drummond. During by-elections WSPU policy was to campaign against the Liberal candidate. On this occasion their campaign appeared successful when the Conservative candidate defeated the Liberal MP by over 2,500 votes.
