Winchmore Hill station
These photographs were taken soon after Winchmore Hill station opened in 1871. Before the coming of the Enfield branch of the Great Northern Railway, Winchmore Hill was little more than an isolated hamlet in the north London borough of Southgate. By the First World War, Winchmore Hill had become swamped by middle-class suburban housing.
