This image shows a view looking east to the dry dock and into the unfinished King George V Dock in May 1919. The Royal Albert dock can be seen to the left.
As the third of the Royal docks, King George V Dock was built to enhance and extend the trade that was passing though the Royal Victoria and Albert Docks.
The King George V was the last of London's upstream enclosed docks to be built and construction was completed in 1921.
