Full image caption

Charles Darwin made many of his wildlife studies at Keston Ponds. His home Down House is two miles away.
The lowland heath and acid grassland habitats provided Charles Darwin with quite different plants and animals to study from those of the chalk and clay-with-flints nearer to his home.
