This area is part of the Greeen chain walk and used to be used to be swampy.
The lake was constructed in the late 1960's and is the head feeder for all the canals in Thamesmead. The 1960's tower blocks inspired the 1960's film by Stanley Kubrick called a Clockwork Orange.
