Rear view of an artist's lay figure, made and used by Louis François Roubiliac for drawing and sculpting classes. The figure is articulated and can adopt a variety of poses. It has a skeleton of bronze overlaid with cork, horsehair, wool and an outer covering of silk stockinette. With a carved wooden and painted head that may be used as both a male or female model. Includes two sets of accompanying clothes and wigs - one set male and one set female.
