Purple ostrich feather, from a hat worn by Emmeline Pankhurst when she led a suffragette demonstration to 'rush' the House of Commons in October 1908. The feather fell from the hat during scuffles with the police that resulted in her arrest and a sentence of three months imprisonment for inciting riot.
