Borough High Street divides historic Southwark in two. It was originally the confluence of two Roman roads, Watling Street and Stane Street which combine at the junction with Tabard Street. Borough is now a thriving cosmopolitan area of London, with many restaurants, bars and the well-known food market Borough Market. The street also has many cafés and food shops.
