Costume worn by Edmund Kean as Richard III, his most famous role, and the one in which he made his last appearance at Drury Lane in 1833.
This group includes: a crown, a pair of theatrical boots of tan suede with red leather lining showing in a turned-over top, an armhole-cloak of crimson velvet embroidered with paste jewels trimmed with imitation ermine and ornamented with overlapping gilt spangles, a doublet of black cotton velvet with scrolled ornament of overlapping spangles, a pair of paned trunk-hose of black cotton velvet with scrolled ornament of overlapping spangles, and a theatrical sword belt, or baldric, of crimson velvet embroidered with paste jewels.
