This wool and cashmere trouser suit was designed by Alexander McQueen. The hipster trousers are decorated around the hips with mother-of-pearl buttons. The floral embroidery worked over the seams that shape the jacket is reminiscent of the way seams were sometimes decorated in the early 17th century, and the button decoration on the trousers references Pearly costumes.

The son of a London taxi driver, McQueen grew up in Stepney in the heart of London's East End where the Pearly tradition originated. He is well known for his knowledge of historical dress and his subtle re-workings of historical style details in garments that are at the cutting edge of fashion.
